Water Supply - Construction Updates
The intent of this general construction update is to give an overview of the work completed and a projection of work expected in the following weeks. Construction progress may differ from the information provided because of weather or other construction elements. See the November 14, 2025, construction update which includes contact information if you have any questions.
Previous work overview, June 20, 2025, through November 14, 2025:
- The limits of construction (flagged lathe) were staked along Bay Road, 6th Street, and Oak Hill Road.
- Contractor delivered pipes and fittings along the water main route on Bay Road, 6th Street, and Oak Hill Road.
- Contractor continued to fuse polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe together on the Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD) South Platte Plant and along the project route.
- Contractor completed installation of water main pipe along 6th Street and began installation of the water main west along Bay Road from the 6th Street intersection.
- Contractor continued water main installation at the MUD South Platte Plant and prepared the site for winter stabilization.
- Contractor completed installation of the water main via trenchless methods along Bay Road.
Upcoming work overview, November 15-28, 2025:
- Contractor will continue the installation of the water main along Bay Road, working west toward Buccaneer Boulevard.
- Contractor will continue the installation of pipe in areas where trenchless construction is required along Buccaneer Boulevard.
- Contractor may install traffic control devices during trenchless construction along Buccaneer Boulevard.
Avenue B Construction:
- The water transmission main is scheduled to start construction in spring 2026. In February 2026, the City of Plattsmouth will have a neighborhood meeting to discuss the project and provide an overall schedule of work.
- In preparation for the Water Transmission Project, Black Hills Energy is relocating its gas main along the south side of the curb. This work is scheduled to be completed by November 2025. Work includes One-Call flags, pothole location of existing utilities, possible one-way traffic, and trenchless installation of utilities in the right-of-way, and excavation to transfer each gas service line.
SID No.5 Construction:
- Contractor anticipates installation of the pipe by trenchless construction to begin in November 2025.
Plattsmouth Water Supply 60% Design
On Monday, November 4, a public meeting was held to share information about the 60% Design phase of the project to purchase water from Metropolitan Utilities District. This will include running pipe under the Platte River near Buccaneer Bay and proceeding south to Oak Hill Road and Avenue B. More detail can be found in the PowerPoint presentation from November 4.
