Water Supply - Construction Updates
The intent of this general construction update is to give an overview of the work completed and a projection of work expected in the following weeks. Construction progress may differ from the information provided because of weather or other construction elements. See the May 1, 2026, construction update which includes contact information if you have any questions.
Previous work overview, June 20, 2025, through May 1, 2026:
- The limits of construction (flagged lathe) were staked along Bay Road, 6th Street, and Oak Hill Road.
- Contractor delivered pipes and fittings along the water main route on Bay Road, 6th Street, and Oak Hill Road.
- Contractor continued to fuse polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe together on the Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD) South Platte Plant and along the project route.
- Contractor completed installation of water main pipe along 6th Street and began installation of the water main west along Bay Road from the 6th Street intersection.
- Contractor continued water main installation at the MUD South Platte Plant and prepared the site for winter stabilization.
- Contractor completed installation of the water main via trenchless methods along Bay Road.
- Contractor completed installation of the water main pipe along Bay Road.
- Contractor completed installation of the water main along Buccaneer Boulevard.
- Contractor began installation of the water main pipe from Buccaneer Boulevard north along the BNSF Railroad.
- Contractor began trenchless installation of the water main underneath the BNSF Railroad.
- Contractor began and completed several trenchless bores along Oak Hill Road.
- Contractor completed installation of the water main pipe along La Platte Road.
- Contractor continued installation of the water main at MUD South Platte Water Treatment Plant.
- Contractor began installation of the water main at the intersection of 6th Street and Oak Hill Road toward Highway 75.
- Contractor restored the construction areas along Buccaneer Boulevard.
- Contractor mobilized the trenchless construction crew to Avenue B and began installation of electrical utilities.
- Contractor restored the construction areas along Buccaneer Boulevard.

- Contractor installed traffic control devices along Avenue B and the planned detour route.
- Contractor completed installation of the water main along Oak Hill Road toward Highway 75.
- Contractor restored the construction areas along 6th Street.
- Contractor mobilized the trenching construction crew to Avenue B.
- Contractor began the pavement removal of the eastbound lane from 23rd Street toward 20th Street on Avenue B.
- Contractor mounted the traffic control devices along Avenue B and the planned detour route.
- Contractor continued the pavement removal of the eastbound lane from 20th Street toward 18th Street on
Avenue B. - Contractor continued the installation of the 8- and 20-inch water mains from 23rd to 15th Streets along Avenue B.
- Contractor completed the water service transfers to the new 8-inch water main for residents between 22nd and
23rd Streets. - Contractor began testing the 20-inch water main along Oak Hill Road from the intersection of 23rd Street and
Avenue B to 6th Street. - Contractor completed site restoration of construction areas along Oak Hill Road.
Upcoming work overview, May 2 through May 8, 2026:
- Contractor will continue the installation of the 8- and 20-inch water mains, working east along Avenue B from
20th to 18th Streets. - Contractor will complete connection and testing of the new 8-inch water main from 22nd Street to 20th Street.
- Contractor will continue the installation of the electrical utilities along Avenue B.
- Contractor will continue the pavement removal and utility improvements along the eastbound lane of Avenue B
from 20th to 15th Streets.
Avenue B Construction:
- Avenue B is closed (local traffic only) from 23rd Street to 15th Street. One-way traffic west bound will remain open
for local traffic only along Avenue B. - Temporary road closures will be required by the Contractor to complete construction of the water main and
water services crossing on Avenue B. - Existing mailboxes are being used by the post office. Temporary cluster mailboxes have yet to be implemented.
Plattsmouth Water Supply 60% Design
On Monday, November 4, a public meeting was held to share information about the 60% Design phase of the project to purchase water from Metropolitan Utilities District. This will include running pipe under the Platte River near Buccaneer Bay and proceeding south to Oak Hill Road and Avenue B. More detail can be found in the PowerPoint presentation from November 4, 2024.
