Plattsmouth Public Library Foundation

The Plattsmouth Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that raises funds and accepts monetary donations for library projects. The Foundation was created in 1992 as a repository for donations, memorials, bequests, and endowments to benefit the library. Past purchases have included a book drop, large print books, children's music, lighting for stage productions, the awning over the rear entrance to the library, and computers.

The Foundation depends on bequests and gifts from the public to continue its support of library needs. Gifts of any amount are appreciated and welcome. If you are at the stage of life when you are considering estate planning, please remember your library. In difficult economic times, private funds are especially necessary to assist tax-supported entities like the library. If you have any questions, please contact the library director or a member of the Foundation Board of Directors:

  • Pat Meisinger, President
  • Vice President - Vacant
  • Sandra Allgeier, Secretary
  • Dana Stahl, Treasurer
  • Angie Minahan

Friends of the Plattsmouth Public Library

The Friends of the Plattsmouth Public Library is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds used for the benefit of the library. Each year, they sponsor the summer reading program, support the library's annual holiday celebration, provide free books to children for Trick or Treat on Main and the summer reading program, host annual book sales, and support other library projects. They meet in the library on the fourth Monday of even-numbered months. If you're interested in joining the Friends, contact Diane Berlett at 402-298-8484. Plattsmouth Book Club

The Plattsmouth Book Club loves books, and we invite you to join us in savoring them. We meet the first Saturday of each month, at 10am, at the Plattsmouth Public Library. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you've read the current selection or not.

We develop our book list several months in advance so everyone has time to read the selections before discussing them. Our tastes are eclectic and we read everything from enduring classics to the latest bestsellers.

2024 Selections
January – books we gave, got, or wished we got for Christmas
February – First ladies by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray
March – The Boys in the boat by Daniel James Brown AND Prisoners, lovers, and spies by Kristie Macrakis
April - Still Life by Louise Penny (led by Kirsten)
May - What the Dog Saw by Malcolm Gladwell (led by Carol)
June - Nomadland by Jessica Bruder
July - The life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson
August – Wild horse country by David Phillips (the rich history and current plight of the mustang, icon extraordinaire of the American West) AND My Antonia by Willa Cather (led by Pat M.)
September – Golden girl by Erin Hilderbrand (led by Dana) AND The woman they could not silence by Kate Moore (led by Pat M.)
October – Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson AND The women who built Omaha by Eileen Wirth (led by Pat B.)
November – Beloved by Toni Morrison AND The girls who stepped out of line by Mari Eder (led by Jeanie)
December – Christmas bells by Jennifer Chiaverini OR Reader’s choice, Christmas book

It's casual, it's fun, and we invite you to join us. Come read with us!

Anyone interested is invited to come to one of our gatherings at the library on the first Saturday of each month at 10am. We’d love to meet you.
