POLICE OFFICER – NON-CERTIFIED, LATERAL ENTRY

A Police Officer- Non-Certified candidate does not currently possess a Law Enforcement Certification from the state of Nebraska or the equivalent from another state. A Police Officer- Non-Certified will be required to successfully complete the basic training curriculum at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center to obtain their law enforcement certification.

A Police Officer – Lateral Entry is an experienced Law Enforcement Officer with a basic law enforcement certification and is assigned to the Field Training Program upon being hired. The length of training will be dependent on an incumbent’s performance as determined by the police training staff.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED; some college preferred, but not required, a valid Nebraska driver’s license, no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, or a dishonorable discharge from military service. The incumbent must possess practical communication skills and a desire to work with the public. Duties for this position are consistent with municipal law enforcement. Upon completion of the testing process, an eligibility list will be established for the current and future openings. A thorough background check will be conducted before any offer of employment. Current salary range is $51,729.00 to $72,321.60 dependent on experience.  The City of Plattsmouth offers a competitive benefits package and professional growth opportunities.
